Workshops for kids are presented alongside the exhibit, “Return to Cola dell’Amatrice: works from the Pinacoteca civica of Ascoli Piceno.” OnThursday the 15th of June and Thursday the 13th of July at 4 PM during “In the workshop of a painter,” kids will learn how to draw as if in a Renaissance workshop, while taking inspiration from the art of the Master of Amatrice.

Return to Cola dell’Amatrice: Works from the Pinacoteca civica of Ascoli Piceno is the new project – curated by Vittorio Sgarbi – of the Region of Lombardy. Hosted at the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum from May 27 to August 27, the objective of the initiative is to keep attention focused on the artistic patrimony of central Italy so devastated by the earthquake. Part of the “Adopt a Museum” campaign of Italy’s branch of ICOM-International Council of Museum, the project gathers funds for the restoration of a work damaged during the quake. The exhibit dedicated to this artist from Amatrice includes four works from the Pinacoteca civica di Ascoli Piceno currently displayed at the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum: the Virgin of Sorrows and St. John the Apostle. Both life-sized and characterized by a touching emotional intensity, they are accompanied by a pair of panels of angels and a video that shows images of the area hit by the recent earthquake in the center of Italy.

The workshops (in Italian) are geared to kids from 5 to 11 years of age.
